Parents: Alice and Frank Longbottom, tortured into insanity by Bellatrix Lestrange who used the Cruciatus Curse. They were members of the Order of the Phoenix. They are permanent residents of St. Mungo's.

Interesting things to note: Excells in herbology, fears Snape and fails at Potions because of it. Is relatively poor at magic, but he had been using his father's wand, not his own. Has his magic improved since he's gotten his own wand? Neville is very brave and very loyal, look at what he did in OOtP -he was determined to help Harry at the Department of Mysteries- and HBP -along with Luna, he helped Ron and Hermione on the night that it all happened (no spoilers here!). Also observe Neville's attitude during the DA meetings- when he's determined, he can accomplish advanced magic.
